Midtown Business Association

Charlie GrahamsIn 1980, a group of eight local businesses in the area surrounding the Nebraska Medical Center banded together to form the Med Center Merchants Association. Their mission is to ensure the area continues to be a great place to do business. From this small group of business owners came one of the most active and successful business associations in Omaha -- what is now the Midtown Business Association (MBA), a vital member of Destination Midtown. The MBA is represented on the Destination Midtown Board and contributes monetarily to Destination Midtown to ensure its success.

The MBA now includes more than 100 members -- a mix of large corporations and small businesses.

“Small business owners and managers serve on the MBA board, alongside large business and institution representatives. Because of this unique blend of members, the MBA can work quickly on issues that relate to business in Midtown,” said Jim Champion, MBA’s executive director.

The MBA has regularly scheduled lunch meetings -- a great way, said Champion, to network and keep up on news and issues that affect your business. It also awards Neighborhood Improvement Awards to local businesses that have taken the time and money to improve their property. In addition, the MBA works with Yates School as an Adopt-a-School partner.

The MBA‘s boundaries are I-480 on the east, 52nd Street on the west, Center Street on the south, and Cuming Street on the north. Champion invites all businesses within the boundaries to join.

“Your involvement is crucial to our success,” said Champion. “With over 75,000 potential customers in Midtown on any given weekday, it truly is a great place for your business.”
