Spectator Opportunities…Creighton University is one of Midtown’s many jewels and its athletic teams provide a steady source of excitement - from grand slams to great saves on goals. The Bluejay baseball and softball teams shine on the diamond at the Creighton Sports Complex located at 22nd and Burt streets. Morrison Stadium is the home field for the Bluejay men’s and women’s soccer teams. Bluejay men’s basketball is played at Qwest Center Omaha and the Bluejay women (basketball and volleyball) play at Omaha’s Civic Auditorium. The 18-hole private equity golf course at the Field Club of Omaha features 5,090 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 67. The course rating is 64.2 and it has a slope rating of 110 on Rye grass. Field Club golf course opened in 1898. Phil Palmer manages the course as the golf professional.
The Dewey Park Tennis Center recently converted three aging hard courts to Har-Tru courts with a modified HydroCourt irrigation system. Located in Omaha, this is the first public “clay-court” facility in Nebraska.
The Gifford Park Neighborhood Association offers free tennis lessons to neighborhood youth each August. Tennis racquets and balls are provided for each lesson.
The sports facilities at Hanscom Park include two outdoor tennis courts, eight indoor tennis courts, a small neighborhood ball field, soccer field, basketball court and swimming pool.
