Based on extensive public participation and input, the Destination Midtown Master Plan identifies code enforcement as a key element in maintaining and improving the quality of life in Midtown. In 2005, Destination Midtown joined others in successfully advocating for the hiring of two additional City of Omaha Planning Department code inspectors. Also, in collaboration with the University of Nebraska at Omaha, several Midtown neighborhoods utilize the Omaha Neighborhood Scan, a resident-led code enforcement program empowering residents to address minor code issues before they escalate.
Destination Midtown continues to work with neighborhood associations and the City of Omaha to assess the need for increased resources and to identify creative solutions for this vital neighborhood issue.
