The Creighton University Medical Center (CUMC) is the busiest trauma center in the state and the home to world-renowned research for osteoporosis and hereditary cancers. It was named to the Thamason Top 100 Hospital's List® as published in Modern Healthcare and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

CUMC includes a 400-bed acute care facility; Creighton University Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry and Pharmacy and Health Professions; and Creighton Family Healthcare, a network of nearly 300 faculty physicians who practice in clinics located throughout Nebraska and Iowa. CUMC is known for its centers of excellence in trauma, cardiac care, neurology, surgery and high-risk pregnancy.

The Nebraska Medical Center has earned J.D. Power and Associates Hospital of Distinction award two years in a row. It also received the 2006 Consumer Choice Award and has achieved Magnet recognition status for nursing excellence, as well as the Award of Progress from the state of Nebraska’s Edgerton Quality Awards Program.

As the teaching hospital for the University of Nebraska Medical Center, this 689 licensed bed academic medical center has an international reputation for providing solid organ and bone marrow transplantation services and is well known nationally and regionally for its oncology, neurology and cardiology programs.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is the only public health science center in the state and one of the country's leading centers in cancer, transplantation biology, bioterrorism preparedness, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases, genetics, biomedical technology and ophthalmology. Its educational programs are responsible for training more health professionals practicing in Nebraska than any other institution.

UNMC's physician practice group, UNMC Physicians, includes more than 460 physicians in 50 specialties and subspecialties. They practice primarily in The Nebraska Medical Center, UNMC's teaching hospital.

Douglas County Health Center

Douglas County Health Center (previously known as Douglas County Hospital) has been committed to meeting the needs of the community since 1890. The original County Hospital was located at 40th Street and Poppleton Avenue. In 1927, the original facility was found to be inadequate and a campaign was launched to build a new County Hospital at 4102 Woolworth Ave. This became the location for what is now called the Douglas County Health Center. Construction of this new facility was completed in 1931 and the original County Hospital was raised in 1947.

In the 1930s, Douglas County Health Center emerged as a leader in the care and treatment of patients with tuberculosis. It became one of the first polio treatment centers in the area in the 1940s and provided trauma, medical and surgical care until the 1970s.

Striving to meet the ever-changing needs of the community, all acute care services closed in 1976. Today, services provided focus on caring for individuals in need of long-term care, assisted living and mental health.

Park Plaza Clinic is a subsidiary of the HELP Foundation of Omaha, a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing affordable healthcare and education.

Dedicated in 1950, this 398-bed facility is a fully accredited Dean's Committee Hospital integrated with Creighton University and the University of Nebraska. The complex includes an adjoining research facility and a new ambulatory care unit. Residents rotate through the general, plastic, thoracic, and vascular surgery Services at a fully operational veterans administration medical center that receives referrals from Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, and South Dakota.
