Jamie Grayson-BerglundExecutive Director
Destination Midtown appointed Jamie Grayson-Berglund as executive director in the summer of 2007. Her professional experience highlights her passion for helping others -- from her service with the Peace Corps in Jordan to her local work with at-risk youth and the homeless with Heartland Family Service, the Nebraska AIDS Project and the Micah House in Council Bluffs.
Jamie graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She received the Peter Kiewit Foundation Comprehensive Memorial Scholarship. In the summer of 2007, she received her Master of Science in Urban Studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She was the recipient of the HUD Community Development Work Study Program scholarship. Her course of study included internships with the Fair Housing Center of Nebraska, Destination Midtown and the code enforcement division of the City of Omaha Planning Department. She currently serves on the Omaha by Design Advisory Council and the Neighborhood Center Advisory Board.
Jamie and her husband, Allen Berglund, were married in December of 2007 and they reside in the Park Avenue area of Midtown. She instructs a fitness boot camp for women and is an avid runner. Jamie can be contacted at (402) 233-7142 or jamie@destinationmidtown.org.
Intern
Makayla Telfer joined Destination Midtown as an intern in Jaunary 2008. Makayla is currently a student at Creighton University and will complete her degree in International Business in May 2008. Aside from her academic studies, Makayla also works as a Marketing and Economic Research Assistant for Dr. Ernie Goss, Jack A. MacAllister Chair in Regional Economics at Creighton University. Her previous internship experiences include the Donna Reed for the Performing Arts Foundation, ConAgra Foods, Inc. and the law offices of Byam & Hoarty.
Makayla is currently pursuing her admittance into the Masters of Business Administration program at Creighton University. She also owns a karaoke and DJ Business. Makayla enjoys singing and performing in local bands, as well as working on songwriting projects in Omaha and Los Angeles.
