From June 2007 through March 2008 a study was implemented that planned for the redevelopment of the area in Midtown Omaha bordered by Harney Street on the north, Woolworth Avenue on the south, Interstate - 480 on the east and 33rd Street on the west. During the short eight-month period, over 400 participants attended more than 30 meetings through focus groups, one-on-one interviews, steering committee meetings, public meetings, design workshops and open houses. During the planning phase a number of visionary ideas and goals were established to chart a better future for the area including commercial district enhancements, new housing and streetscaping.
